Singer Bahati has explained why he refused to step down as an MP aspirant when Azimio leader Raila Odinga asked him to.

Speaking at Ukambani over the weekend, Bahati wondered why every time Kambas are asked to step down and they agree.

"I was offered a job by the party that lost elections (Azimio), but I refused," he said.

Mike Sonko and Kalonzo were asked to step down in the past and also Bahati, so I did not, but I knew they would steal my votes."

Bahati expressed confidence that one day a Kamba politician will lead the country.

"My prayer is that the Kamba people hold each other."

Fans were worried about Bahati after controversial singer Ringtone Apoko alleged that he was depressed.

Apoko alleged that the Bahatis had called him for help and prayers on different occasions.

"Bahati does not want to accept that he lost elections. Diana has even called me, saying Bahati wants to commit suicide," he said.

A close source to Word Is had shut down the rumors by saying the Bahatis had decided to keep it low as they rebrand and give time to the new addition to their family.

"Bahati did not want to be reminded of the past, and so he took some time off social media just to be there for his expectant wife, but there is nothing big they are going through," the source said.
