The act of Nigerian artist Tems cancelling her Kenyan show a week before the scheduled date has elicited mixed reactions.
Organizers of the Tukutane Festival were forced to cancel the entire event even though thousands of Kenyans had already purchased tickets.
Leave alone the tickets, some vendors had paid for space and acquired stock they hoped to sell and make a profit at the event.
The move seemed to anger the self-appointed chief vocalist of Kenyan entertainers, Eric Omondi.
The comedian call out the promoters for cancelling the whole concert accusing them of not supporting Kenyan talents.
He also alleged that they are the root cause to the problems facing the entertainment industry.
Part of his long rant read, "I will personally make sure all your events fail unless you put Kenyan artists first!!! Don't treat Kenyan artists like second-class musicians, you are currently being uncouth and disrespectful... Idiots,".
Comedian and content creator Nasra Yusuf also voiced that she completely agrees with the message Eric was putting across.
" Eric is making a lot of sense! Why cancel a whole show in Kenya because a foreign artist has refused to come to perform?" Nasra wrote.
She then add that it was disrespectful to Kenyan artists to place foreigners on a higher pedestal.
"Na Krg ako free hiyo siku!" the comedian added on a light note emphasizing that the concert could still go on.
