Gospel singer Ruth Matete has opened up about a scary and scarry experience that she suffered when she a toddler.

The mom of one told her online followers that when she was 2-years-old she had been burnt by spilt porridge.

She added how the porridge caused her a lot of damage burning most of her body.

"You see that scar on my back? That's just what you can see. When I was young, I got burned by porridge. I was barely walking. I crawled, and touched the tip of the pot (sufuria) and it toppled over. Long story short, I burned 80%. I don't know what that means, I just know it's a lot of burning," she stated.

She said that she has lived with the scars that have become a part of her. The most positive part is that she feels the scars are "God sent"and that she was born to serve him.

Some of her body parts that got damaged are her thighs, part of her hands, back and part of her head. She also noted that she is now limited on the clothes she can wear.

"The whole of my back, both of my thighs, parts of my hands, and a small part of my head. I mean, God was so gracious the parts that were burned are those I can hide with clothes. Now I know I was born to serve Him. Mini skirts, haiwes mek" she added.

She however gets across mental health and her main goal is to inspire people out there.Pointing out clearly that a scar is a scar, it doesn't matter it is in what form

She went on to say that she was optimistic that God was a healer of all wounds, believing that the scar are meant to remain for testimony.

"They say time heals all wounds. I don't agree. God heals all wounds. But even when the wound is healed, the scar still remains. Sometimes I go through hard times, and then I just look at all those scars. I pat myself in the back and say Luxo, you overcame this. This too,you can overcome."

She then urged her followers not to be afraid of their scars and that instead that they should courageously be proud of them as she believed that scars are a sign of victory.
