See God! KBC host lands lucrative job

• Mike Gitahi joins the newly revamped national broadcaster to host Good Morning Kenya, a morning television show that brings the best of lifestyle, entertainment and politics.

Former Y254 presenter Mike Gitahi has bagged a new job.

Mike has joined KBC's Good Morning Kenya after five years of hosting TV shows on Y24 - a youth television station.

Mike Gitahi joined Y254 in 2017 after being among the few selected to spearhead the new youth television station alongside DJ Pierra Makena.

DJ Pierra went on to host Tano Kali before leaving the youth station to focus on her events and promotions, while Mike Gitahi continued to host The Buzz, Unfinished and The E-Circuit - a youth-centric TV shows on Y254.

In a statement released by the broadcaster, KBC Editor-in-Chief Samuel Maina confirmed that the star-studded lineup of the anchors is part of the strategy to revamp the national broadcaster.

"(KBC has) invested a lot in software and hardware, a modern television anchoring set, and as such we will fully start broadcasting on High-Definition technology unlike before where we used to combine HD and SD. It’s big-time for us,” the Editor-in-chief said.

The new equipment will be sourced from its partner Multichoice in South Africa.

Among the veteran anchors on the station include Tom Mboya, Catherine Kasavuli, Badi Muhsin, Cynthia Nyamai and Fayaz Kureish.

Other journalists include former K24 TV news anchors Shiksha Arora, Ahmed Juma Bhalo, Fred Indimuli, Nancy Onyancha and former NTV anchor Harith Salim.
