This week, thespian Martin Githinji aka Daddie Marto Christine Kokueendera spoke to Mpasho about how growing without present fathers affected them.

Christine started off by saying,

"The confidence and self-esteem have been a work in progress. It also made sense why I dated the men I did before I met Marto."

But she said that her father was in her life at the moment and that they had been working on rebuilding their relationship. She made sure to point out that he was an amazing father.

How did she come to forgive him? "I don't know. I still struggle with that. I can't say I haven't forgiven him, that resentment doesn't really end. But he is a really great grandfather."

For his part, Daddie said that he had decided to focus on becoming the father he desired to have.

"I had to call out the man in me. I don't know how it would have been with him but I know the man that I have become. Our relationship is strained but I decided to be my own man as I was now an adult. If anything our relationship is drifting more apart."

Had growing without a father affected how they parent? The 'Sue and Johnny' actor said that he had made a concerted effort to get traits of what his father wasn't.

Christine was a bit more charitable saying that she chose to give grace to her dad as she is also a parent too.

The couple clarified that Christine was the disciplinarian in the family, saying that she felt guilty when she does it.

"I am very intentional about saying I am sorry to my son. But it is a fine line. I  don't want to bring up a brat."

She added that she thinks her hubby overcompensates with Marcus as he didn't have a father around but Marto disagreed saying their firstborn was still a child.
