Ruth Matete on why she left social media last year

Ruth Matete has explained why she had to leave social media last year after her husband, Beloved John Apewajoye, passed away.

During an interview with Kaleyke Mumo, the singer explained that the constant speculation linking her to the death of John forced her to leave.

“Through my husband’s ordeal I went through cyberbullying but this time I was wiser. I used to hear things from my close friends, yes I knew it was happening but I decided not to go looking for the information myself. I did not want to read about it, I just let things be. It affected me but I dealt with it as soon as I could. My friends really shielded me.”

Adding, “Deleting my accounts also helped as you could not find me.”

The late John died from complications resulting from the burns he sustained in the March 30 fire incident at their home in Great Wall estate, Athi River.

Chief government pathologist Dr. Johansen Oduor, said that the late John had died from complications including sepsis and multiple organ failure.

“He died because of burns which were mixed degree burns estimated at 60 percent. In burns, what kills are the complications that arise. In this case, there was sepsis, multiple organs failure, and all that,” explained Dr Oduor.

Dr. Oduor explained that the deceased did not bear any marks or injuries on his body. At the time of John's death, Ruth was pregnant with their baby girl, Reyna Toluwa.
