Isaac Mwaura's wife celebrates son as she marks World Prematurity Day

Nelius Mukami, the wife to ousted nominated Senator Isaac Mwaura is celebrating her son who was born prematurely.

Mukami's son, Njiru, was the only child who survived from a group of triplets. He weighed 1kg when he was born. In a post on her Instagram, Nelius recounted the journey with her now 4 years old son.

She spoke about how worried she was every day since her son was born and thanked God for saving his life.

"Today, I celebrate You on World Prematurity Day which is observed on 17 November each year to raise awareness of preterm birth and the concerns of preterm babies and their families worldwide. Approximately 15 million babies are born preterm each year, accounting for about one in 10 of all babies born worldwide."

"The day you were born was a sad day; Too Little, Too soon. On The day you were born I did not smile, On The day you were born, My world came crashing down, I mourned for the babies, I'd failed from the womb, On The day You were born, Mommy couldn't Cope I desperately needed, To see signs of hope For you were just 1Kg and I wasn't sure that Good things could come from Blessings Premature.

On the day You were born, I could not hold you, On the day you were Born I was heartbroken, I went home alone, Motherhood in suspense, Intense Sorrow, But You needed and Deserved a Proud Mother, You were Really Little, My beautiful Boy But I was proud of you, For every milestone you met and Every gram You gained, I was proud for Everyday You fought! You were a Miracle, waiting for me, You gave me faith, You gave me hope.

On a beautiful day you were born, I received a gift from God, You have shown me that A hero isn’t always big and strong. A Hero is simply one who has the strength and courage to overcome overwhelming circumstances. I remain a proud mummy, We are in this journey together to Grow! My baby, My Njiru , You have given me so many life lessons My Child , My Survivor , On the day You were Born ,My Life gained Purpose !"
