Dr Ahmed Kalebi, the former CEO of Lancet Kenya has shared details of his life outside the laboratory.

The father of four is married to Kamari Ahmed whom he met while pursuing his university education at the University of Nairobi, Chiromo Campus.

Speaking in an interview, Kalebi revealed that his daughter Aminatu Zahra got married while she was 19-years-old.

"She got married at 19 years and had her baby at 21 years – my grandson and namesake who turned one in June this year. Her husband Abdul Aziz is a computer programmer at Strathmore University," Kalebi shared.

Zahra, who is 22 years is currently studying psychology. She is about to finish her university studies and is pursuing her internship at a top mental health hospital.

Just like his daughter, Kalebi also got married to his wife Kamari at an early age. The two met at the University of Nairobi in 1997, and got married the same year, when they were 22-years-old.

After dropping his job at Lancet, Kalebi's priority now is his family.

"I am able to actually dedicate proper time to them including what may be otherwise considered as simple and mundane such as dropping and picking from school, doing homework and revision with them, playing sports after school. For the little ones, and helping out the bigger ones with navigating their way into adulthood."
