Kenyan gospel artist Lady Bee has narrated how she wasted 9 years of her life in Dubai.

At the time Lady Bee was a secular artiste before she got saved in 2012.

In an interview with The Goldmine Show, Lady Bee says she landed a contract to go perform and stay in Dubai not knowing those would be the worst years of her life.

"I had a very big show at Mad House playing with the band Big Matata. I met  Jocker Lesasa who was of the band, Bilenge Musica.

He told me they had gotten a contract to go perform in Dubai in 2000. In 2001, I went to Dubai. I would sing in clubs and we performed every single day. We would drink daily it's only during Ramadhan when we took a month's break.

She continued, "Girls were not left out so we were 'locked' up, as we were the company's flower. All we did is eat, drink, party sleep and the cycle continued for 9 years.

It was slavery, we used to get a lot of money but my body was tired. I feel so bad when I think of the years I wasted in Dubai."

Lady Bee added: "I could only see my daughter for 1 month every year, all I did is send money. My mum is the woman who brought my daughter up.

Our youth lives are very different, I don't want to regret it but when I went to Dubai. Recording music was Ksh 20,000 but getting that cash was hard, most women had to sleep with someone.

That is why most women don't go far. I went to Dubai because I did not want to sleep with anyone, I went and hustled hard enough and when I made my first album is when I resigned from my job in Dubai.

We were young and could have wanted to do other things but we were never permitted, when going out one had to have bodyguards."
