Police impostor Joshua Waiganjo has been given the green light by the electoral body to vie for the Njoro parliamentary seat in the upcoming General Elections.

Independent Electoral Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Chairman Wafula Chebukati said the body cleared him on the grounds that the constitution does not bar a convict from vying as long as he or she is still pursuing an appeal against his or her sentence.

However, Waiganjo has been advised by the electoral body to fulfill all the requirements so as to vie as an independent candidate.

He is supposed to submit the symbol that he will use during the elections, a letter from the Registrar of political parties and a duly filled nomination form among other documents.

If the residents of Njoro elect him as their representative, it's feared that he could lose the seat for missing eight consecutive sitting without the Speaker's written permission.
