A 30-year-old man was yesterday charged with creating a disturbance by insulting his mother.

George Macharia was accused of creating a disturbance in Embakasi area by threatening to burn his mother Jane Wairimu, 47, using a gas cylinder.

On the day, Macharia’s mother was at home talking to a relative when the accused arrived home and joined them.

After a short conversation, Macharia asked his mother what she told the relative while he was away.

Before the mother could reply, it is alleged that Macharia insulted her and called her a zombie who does not think.

Attempts to calm him down were futile as he rushed and grabbed a gas cylinder, opened the knob and let out gas. He threatened to set the mother ablaze.

Macharia denied the charge.
