Kenei was a father of two and his first child is in Form One while the second born is a week-old.

On Thursday last week, he picked up his son from school for the midterm break and took him to their home in Nakuru county. He then spent two days with his family before going back to Nairobi [on Sunday], never to go back again.

The sergeant, a fourth born in the family of seven was planning to walk down the aisle with the mother of his two children in August this year.

According to his father John Chesang, the family heard about their kin's death through the media.

Speaking to journalists at his home in Nakuru county, he said.

It is painful our child was killed like that, I wish there was more consideration to notify us first before taking it to the media.

The late was described as a role model to the youth in his area and the family wants justice prevailed.

We're asking the government to investigate the cause of his death so that as a family we can know. Kama kuna mkono wa mtu, naye Mungu atajua,' said Emmanuel, the sergeant's brother.
