Media personality Pinky Ghelani has opened up about her journey after losing her dad at a tender age.

Speaking to Grace Msalame, Pinky said her father left a void in her family as they struggled after.

He died of lungs failure.

'Dad was in hospital for three weeks, he eventually succumbed to lungs failure,' she said.

He was a heavy smoker and he already had two heart attacks, he was only 49 years.

Pinky was left under the care of her two older brothers who were very protective and her mother.

She said that even when she got married, one of her brothers gave her away to her husband.

'I did not have a boyfriend in my teens because everyone knew my brothers. When I got married, my elder brother gave me away and there was that void of not having a dad.

I thought of how it would have been nice having my dad present.

She admitted that her mother played the part of both parents but is currently under care of her brother after she got stroke five years ago.

My mum got stroke five years ago. Few days before my 40th birthday.

She lost her speech and the ability to move. She is a different person. My brother is the caregiver. In as much as I need to take care of my mum, there are children I need to take care off.
