Two medical officers have been shot dead by bandits in Kerio Valley despite the ongoing KDF-backed security operation.

Elgeyo Marakwet Governor Wisley Rotich has expressed anger over the killing, saying the death toll from the latest attacks had risen to five in four days.

A female nurse at Endo mission hospital was killed on his way to work while a lab technician who took care of his animals was shot dead at Arror.

The two victims were both middle-aged.

In a social media post, Rotich declared that enough was enough and that they would start arming communities in the region for self defense.

"We shall start arming people as from Monday if the KDF and police will not act by then," Rotich said.
