Engineers from the Institution of Engineers of Kenya will today address the news of a collapsed building site in Utawala.
They will issue a statement on the collapsed building.
In a statement, they said, "It has come to our attention that yet another building under construction has collapsed in Utawala area, Nairobi.
As the learned Institution of the Engineering profession in the country, a team of Engineers from our membership will issue a statement to the public after a thorough assessment of the construction site to ascertain the cause of the collapse."
This comes after a building collapsed in Kinoo last month.
Engineer Maurice Akech the executive director of the National Construction Authority has sent out a statement on the leaning house that crashed into a residential building today morning in Kinoo.
"Early this morning at approximately 0100 hours, a building under construction on the site of Proposed Residential Units, Plot LR No. 6244 in the Muthiga area of Kinoo, Dagoretti, collapsed," the statement read.
"The collapse affected the adjacent building, whose residents were promptly evacuated to ensure their safety. The site of the incident has been cordoned off by the National Police Service."
A tweep going by the name Country Girl narrated her ordeal.
"I am a tenant of the adjacent building and it was the longest night of my life!" she said, "No casualties! Everyone is safe. We all rushed out like 5-10mins after the incident."
Due to this life-threatening ordeal, Country Girl tweeted that she will have to look for an alternative residence.
"They were nice!! I feel bad I have to move out. It was the scariest thing ever"
Adding, "It’s scary how your life can change in seconds… Anyway, Life Sucks!!
