Celebs whose kids have have battled serious health conditions

Having a child who is battling a health condition is every parents nightmare. But for some it's a reality they had to face after their kids got ill.

Below are celebs who have publicly opened up on conditions their kids are battling.

  1. Esther Wahome - Autism.

Gospel artist Esther Wahome has a child who was born with autism.

Autism is a developmental disorder of variable severity that is characterized by difficulty in social interaction and communication and by restricted or repetitive patterns of thought and behaviour.

Speaking during a past interview Esther said her son has made great strides and can actually perform most stuff for himself.

Anne Ngugi - hydrocephalus.

BBC reporter Anne Ngugi is also among celebrities who have opened up on the conditions of their kids so as to encourage others.

Ngugi's daughter suffers from Hydrocephalus.

This is a condition in which an accumulation of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) occurs within the brain. This typically causes increased pressure inside the skull.

The condition can be caused by premature birth in some babies thus causing bleeding in the brain, which can block the flow of CSF and cause hydrocephalus.

Other possible causes of congenital hydrocephalus include: X -linked hydrocephalus – caused by a mutation of the X chromosome a rare genetic disorder – such as Dandy Walker malformation.

Betty Kyallo: ADEM (acute disseminated encephalomyelitis)

K24 reporter Betty Kyallo recently opened up on her daughter Ivanna battling a life threatening condition known as ADEM.

ADEM (acute disseminated encephalomyelitis) is an immune-mediated inflammatory demyelinating condition that predominately affects the white matter of the brain and spinal cord.

The disorder manifests as an acute - onset encephalopathy associated with polyfocal neurologic deficits and is typically self-limiting.

Terrence and Milly

Youtuber and media personality Milly Chebby recently opened up for the first time speaking about her baby’s life-threatening condition.

Milly and her husband Terence Creative welcomed their first child a few months ago and later found out she had a tumor in her stomach.

Thankfully the tumor was operated on and she is now better.
