CBA Africa Concours DElegance 2017 Was The Best Yet

The 24th of September was a day to remember because of the CBA Africa Concours D’Elegance 2017. Indeed, this became the highlight of the weekend and deservedly as well. Thousands of car fanatics an enthusiasts, fashionistas, aspiring car buyers, car sellers, music enthusiasts and people from all walks of life thronged the event which took place at the Ngong Race Course, Nairobi.

The event was packed beyond expectations and notably, attendants from other East African countries including Uganda and Tanzania were in with their vehicles.

At the entrance, you were greeted by an assortment of Harley Davidson, Ducati and BMW motorcycles. There was a colorful and exciting kids’ play area as well as a mini photo studio.

Headed to the main pavilion, you'd encounter the main event where all the action was took place.

A massive assortment of cars, from the vintage to the most modern, were on display and placed in various categories.

Among the notable personalities showcasing vehicles at the event included legendary rally driver Ian Duncan who got the crowds cheering wildly as they marveled at his 1972 Ford Capri.

Another one was former radio presenter Larry Asego, who channeled Samuel L. Jackson's look from the movie Pulp Fiction. His car, a 1974 Volkswagen Camper would later emerge runners' up in his category.

Accordingly, this was an exemplary performance. He hopes to win in next year's CBA Africa Concours D’Elegance which takes on 23rd September 2018.

Various car owners went through the car checking stages; you could see the pride in their eyes as they showed what they’ve been working on over the past years. There were all sorts of cars to take selfies with; classic and vintage Opel, Rolls Royce, Nissan, Ford, Jeep and various other car brands.

Fans couldn't help themselves but take photos next to the beautiful cars and motorcycles.

Later in the day, there was a spectacular parachute show and then DJ Joe Mfalme took to the decks to entertain revellers with some dope local and international hit songs. It was such a fun day.

Faith, one of the young attendants at the CBA Africa Concours D’Elegance 2017 had something to say.

“I wanted to have fun, see the different versions of cars on display. I also expected to meet interesting people with whom I share the passion for automobiles. I was fascinated to know that Kenya has really incredible things to offer,” she exclaimed.

The winner in the motorcycles category was Sati's classics, 1925 - DKW. Diccon Wilcock won in the cars category with his 1934 Railton. Julia Wilcock & Veronica Wroe came second and third respectively.

There was an incredible fashion event after the awards were given to the winners and thereafter, guys went berserk when acclaimed artist Nyashinski took to the stage to perform some of his biggest hits to date. It was a superb performance.

As it was getting dark, I left the event feeling all jaded after a long day of strolling, but contented deep inside -- that I had the best experience so far this year.
