A billion reasons to believe; we see them walking by everyday. We watch them on our tellies everyday. In truth, there is nothing to stop us from achieving -as the adage goes; if the mind conceives it, then we can achieve it. Perhaps sometimes all it takes is a little nudge.

So I figure I should perhaps give you some examples of people who are indeed reaching for their dreams and perhaps this will be just that one reason for you to believe that you too can achieve.

Cue scene for Daystar’s Afrizo Choir members who are set to feature in the third season of Coke Studio Africa. Trust that the youngins were excited to have received an invitation to be part of the production of a mash up between Uganda’s renowned rapper Navio and Mozambique top R and B artist G2.

The Daystar Valley Road Afrizo choir lead, Kash, who was thrilled to contribute to the production said,

“The experience was amazing, and the whole team will carry lessons learnt in the development of our career.”

Coca-Cola has been running the “Billion Reasons to Believe” Campaign to inspire the youth and through its existing platforms, such as Coke Studio Africa, it has helped teens realize their dreams.

Eighteen year old Joan Wachira was more than humbled to have been instructed by Grammy Award Nominee Zwai Bala who is Coke Studio Africa’s Music Director.

“I never imagined I would be part of a major production at this age and with the guidance of a celebrated producer and musician like Zwai”.

Music has been part of Joan’s life from when she was young. She wrote her first song when she was in class 3. However she decries the challenges one faces before breaking into the music industry. Her determination nonetheless has led her to be part of the Premier Voice Kenya vocal competition as one of the remaining contestants from 58 hopefuls.

Kash reiterated that being part of the production together with an experienced band and music director was an eye opener to the team and they can only now move to greater heights.

“Zwai is so professional and patient too, he made each one of us better understand our voices and how we can improve on our talents. Talent and opportunity are the perfect formulae to success, I urge teens to be determined and to never miss an opportunity to grow their talent, only then will success come your way.” Kash said

This year, Coca –Cola’s “Billion Reasons to Believe” campaign is seeking to enrich the lives of youth across the continent by encouraging and daring them to go after their aspirations and to get them to share their success stories and the journey in order to inspire others.
