Another Brutal Murder. University Student Stabs His Girlfriend To Avoid Getting Dumped

These are tough times. University students are acting out in ways that are not in tandem with conventional conflict resolution methods.

We have read about all these love triangles that end up with the death or near-fatal injury of a university student. The latest being reports of a male student at Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) in Kakamega County who was arrested after he allegedly stabbed his girlfriend following a love triangle dispute.

The suspect is said to have busted his girlfriend locked inside a room with another man in Kefinco area.

The suspect attempted to knock on the main door severally but the couple locked inside did not open. It is then that the suspect got infuriated and broke the door, stabbeed the woman several times before escaping when the commotion attracted neighbours’ attention. The victim was rushed to Kakamega County Referral Hospital for urgent care.

Confirming the incident, Kakamega County Police Commander Tito Kilonzi said the suspect is a third year student at MMUST.

“The two have been dating for nearly three years now. According to our investigations, the woman told the suspect two months ago that she is no longer interested in the relationship. The man did not want to let her go. On Tuesday, October 11, morning, he verbally threatened the woman with unspecified action. The suspect then went to take alcohol the whole day before returning to the woman’s house in the evening. He broke the door, beat the victim and stabbed her twice in the abdomen."

“Her neighbours, fellow university students, heard the victim scream and rushed to the scene, where they found the victim lying in a pool of blood. They immediately rushed the victim to hospital,” Mr Kilonzi told eDaily.
