This year has been one of the years we saw our own movies shot, directed and produced by our own premiere on Netflix.

Here are some of the hot flix that premiered this year:

Sincerely Daisy

A film of young romance that has to grow into something or stop. Kenyans didn’t really appreciate the movie and there was a lot of hate.

Most people feel like it was too direct and whatever would happen was obvious. Apart from that the movie was great and has at least a modern view of life and how things really happen.

The movie was produced and directed by Nick Mutuma. Some of the lead characters included Foi Wambui, Ella Maina, Brian Abejah and Mbeki Mwalimu.

The movie is a 7/10 and is great for young teenagers.

Disconnect

Initially released in April 2018, Disconnect is a comedy, romance movie that features almost all the top actors and actresses in the country. part of the cast includes Kate actress, Nick Mutuma, Pascal Tokodi, Brenda Wairimu and Bridgit Shighadi.

Disconnect was well received by viewers. It was a change from the normal scripting that we are used to and the movie had a great plot twist.

The film was directed by David Tosh and Michael Jones. It is a twist 8/10 and can be watched by above 18.

40 Sticks

A Kenya film production movie which was directed by Victor Gatonye and written by Voline Ogutu.

Some of the lead actors include Robery Agengo, Mwaura Bilala and Andreo Kamau. The film is more about crime and thriller.

It was received with mixed reactions but at least most of it was good. Kenyans appreciate the fact that it was not your kawaida movie. At last something dope, 40 sticks is killing it out there.

Pundits have branded it a "new era in Kenyan movies". Not the kawaida poor girl loves rich boy drama, or someone comes from shags to Nairobi saga. Love it...I found the story line very solid. I wasn't ready for that plot twist! The acting was also good.

I give it a 7.5/10. You?
