Four people have died in a road accident at Salama on Nairobi-Mombasa highway.
11 others were rushed to Machakos Level Five hospital with serious injuries.
The accident occurred after a PSV bus heading to Nairobi from Mombasa hit a lorry parked by the roadside.
On Saturday, a number of commuters using the highway were stuck for several hours after Sultan Hamud river burst its banks.
The river is just a few Kilometres from Salamu market.
Police advised motorists to use the Machakos-Wote-Makindu route after the Sultan Hamud bridge was submerged.
Makueni county commissioner Maalim Mohammed said Friday's heavy downpour rendered the section of the road impassable.
