Many of us like having a quick bite sold by a food vendor by the roadside. We've seen even the rich and mighty hopping into the next available roadside kiosk to munch on the edibles on offer!

However, are we really sure about the safety, leave alone the hygiene, of these foods served from our city food joints? I know of a particular place in Pangani that serves the best Shawarma I have ever tasted.

Despite living way off that side of Nairobi, I continue making the trip (or two), each month, down to that eating place to have my favourite serving. Besides my mothers chapatis, the meaty delicacy at my Pangani joint is the yummiest dish I have ever enjoyed wolfing down.

However, I was taken aback when some eatery was busted by authorities making Shawarma in the most weirdest form possible. The shocker wasn't even how they made the delicacy, but the sources from which they carefully extracted the meat from.

It was yuck!!!

I had to rethink on my cravings of this delicious meal that I love. I am still deliberating on whether to quit paying my Pangani chef a visit, or just ignore everything else and continue enjoying the servings.
