They are the trendiest boy band from Tanzania at the moment. Yamoto Band have won the hearts of many female fans and the begrudging respect of male fans.

One of the members, Aslay - previously known as Dogo Aslay - also has a huge following. Before he joined the band he had made a name for himself.

Aslay is know for hits like Nakusema, Shukran and Niwe Nawe. The former child star is a protégée of Mheshimiwa Temba, a veteran music heavy weigh.

The entire Yamoto Band is housed under the TMK Wanaume Family in a subsection called Mkubwa na Wanawe.

Recently, the band members were in Nairobi for the shooting of the new season of Coke Studio Africa. Check out some photos from Aslay's trip to Kenya.

Aslay lost the mum, Moza Mohamed, at Temeke hospital in Dar es Salaam, where she succumbed to high blood pressure.

Several Tanzanian artistes and promoters including Diamond Platnumz, managers Babu Tale, Mkumbwa Fella, tycoon Chief Kiumbe and Musa Babaz sent their condolences to Dogo Aslay.

"I know how painful it is to lose a loved one. I lost my father recently and it was such a hard time for me. Aslay loved his mother so dearly but he should just accept. We will comfort him until the last minute," said Babu Tale.

Diamond said, "He loved his mother a lot as I do, they should be loved, respected and cared too, its a great loss but that's God's plan."

To best remember her, Aslay wrote a tear jerking post on his Instagram as a tribute to his mum, today.
