According to Sonu chairperson Babu Owino, the vandalism that destroyed Sh100 million property at the University of Nairobi on Saturday was spontaneous, and it wasn't by the UoN students.

Babu claims the #NiShowPower Concert equipment were damaged by a group of outsiders who sleep at Uhuru Park and not UoN students, as others claim. The Sonu chair also distanced himself from being involved in the vandalism.

Our attention has been drawn to the vandalism and destruction of private property by University of Nairobi students who went on the rampage on Saturday night following reports that the university administration stopped them from cooking in their halls of residence. Suppliers to an event organised to happen on Sunday 15th May are now counting their losses following the aftermath of the riots. Property of events suppliers who are also EMAK members has lost equipment valued at over Sh100 million.
