Yesterday being the World's Aids Day, the world marked the beginning of an end of the Aids pandemic that has infected and killed millions in the past 30 years. In Kenya the number of people living with HIV/AIDS is approximated to 4.5 million with 800,000 on ARV's. 191,840 of the people living with the HIV virus are children.
According to survey, Nairobi, Homa Bay and Kisumu counties are the most affected by HIV/Aids with Wajir and Lamu counties having the lowest number of HIV infections with a record of only 800 people living with HIV. Recent survey indicates that more women in Mombasa county are HIV positive compared to women; 10.5% compared to 4.5%. The prevalence for Mombasa compared to other counties has reduced by 7.4% atleast accoeding to National Aids Control Council
The government has promised to facilitate substantial financing in the fight against HIV.
