An elderly woman is nursing serious burns after her younger sister scalded her with boiling cooking oil in Kisauni suburb of Mombasa after allegedly cautioning the younger woman against snatching other women’s husbands in the area.

According to neigbours led by Fatma Kassim, they claim the elderly woman now in her late fifties, was in her house when she was drenched in the boiling cooking oil by the 19-year-old assailant.

The neighbours said the culprit was however caught by members of the public while trying to escape and efforts to take her to the police failed when she faked fainting and was left by the roadside.

“As neighbours we are appealing to the police to arrest the culprit for justice to be done following this heinous act,” said Fatma.

The neighbours said the assailant sister to the victim Jackline Nekesa, is a notorious husband snatcher and she is always seen with other women’s husbands in the area.

They alleged the culprit is currently pregnant and her elder sister was cautioning her to drop the bad habit and threatened to send her back to their rural home in Western Kenya when she retreated to their kitchen and came back with boiling oil that she splashed on her sister in the face downwards.

The victim Jackline was rushed to the Coast Provincial hospital last night by neighbours but was only given first aid and discharged despite her critical condition.

Her scaring looks from the seriously burnt face beyond recognition down to her chest, stomach and hip area and thighs which are swollen with raw wounds as the media found her lying outside Mombasa Coast General hospital.

Jackline was burnt by her youngest sister whom she houses in Kisauni after she cleared high school last year.

Doctors and nurses at the facility, however, faulted the victim's caregivers who were reluctant to produce required documentation like P3 forms before such a patient could be admitted.
