Woman in court for scalding drunk customer in food kiosk

A woman who operates a food kiosk in the Diani area of Kwale County appeared before the Kwale law court charged with scalding a drunken customer with hot water.

Fridah Ndanu the accused is said to have poured hot water on the complainant Philip Nziomo causing him grievous bodily harm.

The incident happened on January 23, 2020, at about 7 am following a bitter quarrel between the two.

The court heard that the woman refused to serve the complaint tea in her eatery ostensibly on the ground that he was drunk and disorderly.

He pestered her to serve him tea but she ordered him to leave her premises leading to a verbal disagreement before she emptied hot water in a jar leaving him with a scalded body.

The accused, a mother of two children, denied the charge of assault before principal magistrate Patrick Wambugu and was released her on Sh.20,000 bond for hearing on March 12.
