African king of Javelin, Julius Yego, over the weekend did the unthinkable, but before you start filling your mind with all the things you can think of, he did it all in support of Harambee Stars and Tottenham midfield enforcer, Victor Wanyama.

A staunch Arsenal fan, Yego broke all barriers, ditched the traditions and stepped into football’s salty waters by showing his support for the Harambee Stars skipper – talk of patriotism.

Still wondering what Yego did ‘wrong’?.

Tottenham Hot Spurs and Arsenal are bitter rivals all based in North London. The rivalry between these two sides began in the early 1900’s, when Arsenal moved from the Manor Ground, Plumstead to Arsenal Stadium, Highbury, just four miles from Tottenham’s White Hart Lane; by doing so, they became Tottenham’s nearest neighbours and thus began a natural local rivalry.

And just like our very own rivals, Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards, you can never show support for the rival team in whatever circumstance especially in the land where residents eat, breathe and live football.

While Wayama’s high-flying Tottenham were getting ready to take on Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City side, in one of last weekend’s juiciest EPL fixtures, Julius Yego the Javelin African record and Commonwealth record holder was not letting traditions tie him down in support of his buddy.

He showed love for the man who brought the country honor by being the first East African player to play in one of the world’s most competitive leagues, Victor Wanyama.

The Olympic silver medalist took to his Facebook page where he posted a photo of him in Tottenham Hot Spurs’ kit, with Wanyama’s name engraved on it.

Going @victor Wanyama full support! Congrats for a splendid performance recently bro !!but am @gooners you know !! Posted Yego.
