Edwin Langat aka Edu is no more. Edu, who became popular after news about his health went viral, passed away while receiving treatment.

The University of Nairobi graduate developed a nerve disorder known as GBS in April this year which left him hospitalized at a hospital in Eldoret.

Family and friends started an online campaign #HelpEdu to raise money for his treatment but he succumbed to the rare disease after being admitted in ICU for more than five months.

Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS) is a disorder in which the body's immune system attacks part of the peripheral nervous system.

Well, Edu's wife Faith  Cheruto has penned a heartbreaking story about the late and here is what she wrote:

"Hi my people,

My name is Faith Cheruto,

You must have heard of my story,

I'm Edwin Langat's fiancée,

Edu the man of my dreams is down fighting a rare disease,

Edu the man with the reflection of me in his eyes is down fighting GBS,

My people, I met Edu and I saw a warrior, a handsome intellectual like no other,

I met the real man of my dreams with a good heart,

I met a man with a reflection of me in his eyes,

My man is down lying down fighting down a rare disease,

My people all along I have been watching him,

All along I have been praying for Edu,

I have seen the man of my dreams fight hard,

I have seen a real warrior,

I have seen my man control tears,

I too cried and controlled my tears,

I prayed hard for him,

I smiled for him that he too may smile,

Indeed he could struggle to smile for me despite the pain,

I too could smile and fight to control my tears,

I thank God for the prayers of my friends,

I thank God for the friends who have contributed to Edu,

The fight is still on and together we shall win,

We will win this fight,

The words of Edu's mum are ringing again in my mind,

" Pea yeye dawa sisi tutaomba "

Were the encouraging words of a great mother,

I pray my friends,

Let's fight together,

Let's fight this GBS together,

Together we shall win,

The man with the reflection of me in his eyes will wake up with a big smile, He will wake up and hold my hand tight again and take me to Lumbwa valley, the land of our people,

He will take me once again to meet his loving mother.

My people it is my prayer,

The man with the reflection of me in his eyes will wake up stronger tomorrow."

The late Edu scored an A- in KCSE and was admitted at the University of Nairobi to undertake Biosystems Engineering and he graduated with a First Class Honours.  He then got a job with a Chinese firm in Nairobi and had about 3 scholarship offers to undertake Masters in Europe.
