Popular NTV presenter and reggae fanatic Njambi Koikai is a strong woman. The ever jovial media personality has been in and out of the hospital, and recently, she was admitted to a city hospital where she underwent surgery.

Njambi suffers from two serious conditions namely, Endometriosis and Pneumothorax.

Pneumothorax is an abnormal collection of air in the pleural space between the lung and the chest wall. Symptoms typically include sudden onset of sharp, one-sided chest pain and shortness of breath whereas

Endometriosis is a condition that affects a woman's reproductive organs. It happens when the tissue that lines the uterus grows outside of it.

Symptoms include; cramping during intercourse, infertility, pain (usually pelvic) that usually occurs just before menstruation and lessens after menstruation, pain with pelvic examinations, cramping or pain during bowel movements or urination and painful sexual intercourse.

Well, Njambi is in the hospital recuperating after she suffered from Endometriosis, and she has shared with her followers the horrible things those who suffer from this condition go through.

"Yoh fam so right after sharing about my recovery process, I was taken critical back to hospital on Monday. All the water in my lungs hadn't completely drained. Oxygen mask fitted because my saturation was low. Theatre in the night. Chest tube fitted and back to the start. Constipation due to the meds I've been taking. All these because of periods. Just periods. I'm not alone.

Millions of women are suffering because of MENSTRUATION. Getting babies is not the solution because we know of mothers still suffering. I'd like to encourage mothers to young girls to start taking them to gynecologists as soon as they get their first period. It is important for women to take charge of their reproductive health.

She also urged the government to take care of women's health seriously especially those with conditions like hers.

It's important for govt and the Ministry of Health to take our health seriously and reproductive health. I'd also like to share this with the First Lady who runs the Beyond Zero campaign. Many of our women are suffering because of endometriosis and therefore are not even able to carry pregnancies to full term. The miscarriages. The mortality rates.

I also don't see any Presidential candidates addressing our health sector or women's health. Imagine 170 million women are suffering worldwide. Our gynecologists here have no better prescription other than getting a child and the condition will go.

I'd like to urge other women to have gynecologist visits every so often. This is a manifestation of all my teenage years as a menstruating woman. This condition can get you at any age. It can affect you even if you have never suffered from painful periods. We are consuming food high in oestrogen. Watch out what you eat. Watch out the perfumes you wear. Research about parabens.

Get closer to God because the fiercest battles are not given to the weakest.

God is lifting us. God is raising a new generation. We shall continue to speak of His goodness and mercy."
