A signpost that gave the direction to Mike Sonko's residence in Machakos was destroyed by county askaris on Wednesday, December 28.

Reports indicate that the signpost which was erected along Mombasa Road was demolished by people who were driving a Machakos County Government vehicle.

The askaris were allegedly sent by Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua. Other sources say he's worried about Sonko's growing popularity and generosity.

Apart from engaging in projects such as constructing boreholes, connecting electricity to homes, the Senator often invites Machakos and Nairobi MCAs to his home.

This has not gone down well with Mutua and it is widely believed that the signboard was brought down because the two do not see eye to eye.
