William Makali Wamalwa, son to the late Michael Kijana Wamalwa, is dead. Willy Big as he is known by many, died while being rushed to the hospital for treatment.

Devolution CS Eugene Wamalwa said the post mortem on the son of former vice president Michael Wamalwa will be done tomorrow.

Addressing the press after a family meeting on Monday, the CS who is also his uncle confirmed that William Makali who is also commonly known as Willy Big died on Sunday evening after he was rushed to the hospital for medication.

Wamalwa said the family is shocked with the sudden death.

"We are very saaddened with the loss of our son," Wamalwa said.

The CS said Makali was well on Saturday and went out with his friends but on Sunday, he was found unconscious in his house on Sunday evening.

Wamalwa thanked doctors who tried to save Makali's life.

"As a family, we thank doctors who tried to save his life, but unfortunately he died," he added.

Wamalwa at the same time said the burial arrangements have started and that Makali will be buried next Saturday.

He said the burial committee will be led by Robert Wamalwa, Makali's uncle.

The CS said the family will give a true report on the cause of his death after post mortem and asked members of the public to ignore social media propaganda that he died of depression.

Earlier in the day, Robert said Makali had diabetes history and the family was not sure if that is what killed him.

Makali is said to have been a second-year student at the University of Nairobi. He was the third-born son of the late vice president.

Last year, it was reported on media that Wamalwa's children were living in poverty with a lot of depression, a statement that Eugene dismissed.

Eugene said all Makali's brothers and sisters have been notified of his passing on.
