Many people were touched when they heard the story on Nadia Cherono, DP William Ruto's adopted daughter.

Nadia was born and buried somewhere in Machakos when she was only a day old.

She was not ready to die.

Even though she was buried and her body had started decomposing, Nadia's destiny was just but beginning.

She was rescued and treated.

The kind people at Catholic sisters of Madre Ippolita children's home in Machakos county took care of her.

Back in 2015, Ruto's path crossed with Nadia's. The deputy president had been invited by the sisters to help raise funds for their sustainability.

Ruto was moved to tears when he heard Nadia's story. He immediately offered to adopt Nadia who by then was a toddler.

He later took to his Facebook page and wrote,

"The story of Nadia who was found buried her body partly decomposing & abandoned as a new born, and has been under the care of Sisters at Madre Ippolata Children's Home touched my heart. I've named her Cherono after my mother and made her part of my family."

Check out the photos of Nadia all grown, 6 years later.
