Former Rarieda MP and Foreign Affairs minister Raphael Tuju married Ruth Akinyi on November 15, 1986, and they even had 3 kids together. But this was before things went south two years ago.

According to The Nairobian, Ruth Akinyi can not afford the posh lifestyle she once had before separating with her wealthy husband. She now been reduced to waking up very early to go and prepare matumbo and chapatis for her customers who visit her a small hotel along Mombasa Road.

On the other hand, Raphael Tuju owns an expensive Restaurant in Karen, and even offered to pay Ruth Akinyi a monthly maintenance allowance of Sh200,000 and to continue paying her balance of the Sh180,000 bank car loan in two monthly installments of Sh90,000.

Tuju told the court that he feared Akinyi would use her money to maintain "her jobless young man" who was alleged to be the late GSU officer Tony Ogunda whom she had had an affair with.

Sometime in the year 2011 I learnt that my wife was adulterous and (had) become very abusive and disrespectful to an extent of playing her adulterous life even at the knowledge of my children and workers," said Tuju in court documents filed by Laichena Mugambi & Company Advocates.
