Wicked! Kenyan Lady Cons Her Parent 100, 000 Shillings

A 25-year-old woman accused of defrauding her father of Sh 100,000 by pretending that she was kidnapped has been charged at a Nairobi court.

Ann Wambui Maina, a mother of a three year old girl charged together with her husband Douglas Vusaka Jimugeni with an attempt to extort by threats contrary to the law.

They allegedly committed the act on diverse dates between March25, and April 2 2015 at Kawangware-Kabiria area in Nairobi.

The two were accused of sending threatening messages to the woman’s father Joseph Maina Mwangi claiming that his daughter had been kidnapped and would be killed within two days if Sh 100,000 was not sent through Mpesa for her release.

The father to Wambui appeared before the Milimani Senior Principal Magistrate Lucy Mbugua and requested that the two be granted a non-custodial sentence because he has forgiven them.

The prosecution did not object the application on the grounds that the father was willing to withdraw the complaint.

It is alleged that on March 25, 2015 at around 3 a.m the complainant received a text message indicating that his daughter had been kidnapped, and a sum of Sh 100,000 was required for her release.

The complainant is said to have had reported the matter to the police where he later received another similar text on March 26.

After the investigations were conducted it was found out that the messages were coming from the second accused mobile phone that was traced and located in Kawangware.

The father was threatened that the money was needed in two days’ time and on April 8, the first accused was traced at Nairobi hospital where he works
