Yesterday, the fallen Kibra MP Ken Okoth was memorialised at Starehhe Boys Centre.

The former student of the school was remembered for his love of life, determination and selflessness.

One of the people who paid tribute to Ken Okoth included Isaac Asuga Ogechi, one of the students Ken was sponsoring.

"When I think of a father your name comes to mind it actually meant a lot in my life having you as my sponsor. My life at Starehe has been comfortable, thanks to you. You've been paying my school fees and even providing me with the pocket money for the last two years," Isaac said.

"The advice you gave us when you visited the school about the importance of self-discipline which helps to restrain peer pressure that can lead to drug abuse. You emphasized virtues such as hard work. As I stand here, I can humbly say that I have been constantly at the top of my class and I promise to maintain and make you proud, posthumously."

"When the Giving Simplified club visited Kibera's Uwezo Foundation, we received a warm reception from the people of Kibera and we gladly worked on a project together.

We interacted with the children of Kibera playing football together and were unfortunately thrashed by their team.

We also painted a wall together with them.

We remember you for the generous contribution you gave to the team as they left your constituency.

You graciously took care of our lunch on that day. Thanks for being a considerate big brother, Ken.

When I consider the last moments I had with you, fond memories keep flashing in my mind. The cool photos we had at the quadrangle that late evening is just but an example.

I had faith that all would be well but now that this has befallen us, I simply have to accept the reality, although it hurts, from deep down my heart. Thank you for the care and support that you gave me and others.

I would like to pass my deepest condolences to his family and friends.
