A tech CTO has revealed his incredible six hour commute from LA to San Francisco and back every day.

Curt von Badinski is the co-founder and chief technology officer of successful, wearable technology brand Motiv - based in San Francisco.

The only problem is, his home, is 400 miles away in Burbank, Los Angeles.

Rather than move to the expensive, foggy, San Fran area - away from his elderly parents - the 42-year-old does an epic 800 mile round trip on a daily basis.

His morning routine comprises of a 5am wake up call, before he jumps in his small sports car for the 15-minute drive to Bob Hope Burbank airport.

There he boards a plane for the 90-minute flight to Oakland, where he picks up his hybrid car, waiting at the airport, and arrives at the office by 8.30am.

When it's clocking off time at 5pm, Badinski gets back in his car, for another 400 mile journey, which typically sees him return home by 9pm.

The commute might seem exhausting and expensive way to get from A to B.

In fact, the travel is not quite as pricey as it appears.

Badinski pays Surf Air $2,300 monthly, allowing him to fly unlimited to San Francisco and back with seven other people on a small, single-engine turboprop airplane.

He also makes the best of his time in the air to get some work done.

'My days here are spent busy all day,' he tells . 'The commute is a baked-in way to get heads-down time.'

He also saves a considerable amount of money on rent by staying in Burbank where his rent is just $1,100 per month.

But he says his main motivator to stay where he is, is family.

'It's really important to be home with my family,' he said, adding that one of his parents suffers from Parkinson's Disease.

He said he has considered moving his family north, or moving the company south, but says none of the scenarios have been able to work.

So for the foreseeable future, Badinski - who gets just five hours sleep a night - will keep his killer commute, although he admits 'it's not for everybody.'

'It seems cool on the surface, but it could weigh down a lot of people.'
