Kenyan woman called Gladys Bulinya, is known from her staggering brood. Gladys had given birth to a whopping 12 children, six sets of non-identical twins born between 1993 and 2010.

The strong woman lived alone with 10 of her dozen children, six girls and four boys, in a one-roomed grass-thatched house in the village of Nzoia. She said that her situation was even intensified further by a local belief that twins were cursed by a divine jinx. What hogwash!

My belief is, however, contrary to her's. From a personal experience, twins are a blessing and there is absolutely no doubt about that. In Kenya, we have a few celebs who have brought forth twins.

We sample a number of them.

DJ Kaytrixx

Did you know that DJ Kaytrixx has twins? The entertainer, who, in 2017 will be vying for the Mikindani ward MCA seat in Mombasa, has identical twin boys. The two, Teddy and Tobby, have just celebrated their second birthday.

"It's challenging raising twins but God always provides. I can't mistake my boys no matter how identical they look. I know them well," says Kaytrixx.

She recently nailed down her dream man, or so it seems. But Wambui Kamiru, Bob Collymore's wife, has twins from her previous marriage. The two are boys as well.

Dufanda

Celebrity barber George Dufanda and his girlfriend Sarah Mukami have welcomed twins, a boy and a girl whom they have named, Malakai and Malaika.

Announcing the good news to their fans, Dufanda who is known to be the barber for almost all known celebrities and politicians in Kenya said that the greatest gift God has blessed him with is a beautiful wife and his twin kids.

Grace Msalame

Curvaceous television girl Grace Msalame also has five-year-old twins.

Anne Kiguta

K24 news anchor Anne Kiguta welcomes twins four years ago. Sheis a proud mother of paternal twins and an older baby girl.

Barbara Chepkoech aka Waridi

Popular actress Barbara Chepkoech, famously known as Waridi was blessed with fraternal twins (a boy and a girl) in November last year.

She wrote on her social media pages soon after: “November has been awesome, I have been humbled by God’s grace, I didn’t know the power of prayer until I found my voice. Being pregnant with twins was hard on my body, even though I carried my pregnancy magnificently."

Who can possibly forget the famous Moipei singing triplets?

Mo Farah

Somali-born British athlete Mo Farah, and his wife Tania, has twin girls called Amani and Aisha.

Hollywood power couple Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt welcomed twins Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline in 2008. The first photos of the babies were sold to Hello! and People for $14m (Sh1.4 billion), making them the most expensive celebrity pictures ever taken.

Star Hollywood actress Julia Roberts and hubby Daniel Moder welcomed twins Hazel and Phinnaeus in 2004.

Sultry singer-cum actress Jennifer Lopez proved she’s not one to do things by halves when she gave birth to fraternal twins, Emme Maribel Munez and Maximilian David Muniz, in February 2008. This was with Marc Anthony, now divorced.

After a struggle to conceive, singer Celine Dion gave birth to two healthy fraternal twin sons in October 2010. They are named Eddie (after Celine’s favourite Algerian songwriter Eddie Marnay) and Nelson (after Nelson Mandela).

Mariah Carey (and Nick Cannon - now divorced) gave birth to twins Moroccan and Monroe, while listening to her hit We Belong Together.
