Have you ever been to prison? What was the experience? Well, several people among them local celebrities have ever spent a day or years in prison and it's not somewhere you would wish your worst enemy to end up at. From sleeping on a cold hard floor to violence, prison is hell on earth.

Mercy Atis

The upcoming artiste has had it rough in life. Mercy Atis who left Kenya a few years ago on a student’s visa to study in the USA under sponsorship by a local church didn't have it smooth in the foreign land.

'The plan was to market Christian books for the particular church and enroll in a nursing course. I trained as a Certified Nursing Assistant, got a certificate, and had even started the practice when my life crumbled. In 2009, I was arrested for arson and jailed for five years. To board the flight back home, I was picked up from the immigration jail where I had spent another nine months, two months of these being on hunger strike,' she said in previous interviews.

Mercy was rejected by people she called friends when she came back home and recently, she released a song I don't wanna know, which is based on her real-life, encouraging people to never let negativity pull her down.

Sandrah Khan aka Binti Kiziwi

The video vixen in Binti Kiziwi song was arrested in China after she was found with pellets of illegal drugs in her stomach after several scans at a health facility within the airport.

She was jailed for seven years and returned to Tanzania early last year.

Elizabeth Michael Lulu

The Tanzanian beauty queen was jailed for two years for manslaughter over the death of former boyfriend and actor Steven Kanumba.

Kanumba died on the night of 7 April 2012, after he and Elizabeth had a heated argument.

In 2017 during a court hearing, Lulu said, the deceased wanted to attack her with a Panga after which he fell down and was unconscious.
