Finally, Kiambu governor Ferdinand Waititu has responded to Mike Sonko’s viral interview that he did on Jeff Koinange Live.
And where did he do it? On Jeff Koinange Live off course. Waititu clarified that he had never abused drugs. He told Jeff:
I have never smoked bhang or used any illegal drugs in my life. I know why Sonko said what he said [last week on JKL]. I never take him seriously. But, if [those allegations] had come from somebody else, I would have sued him or her for defamation.
It is very disappointing to hear such words coming from somebody who is entrusted with the lives of over 4 million people in Nairobi. It is high time that he becomes serious. He is a leader now; he shouldn’t be a joker anymore. I am a respectable parent, a serious person. I thank God for the far He has brought me. I am a serious person, who sometimes never looks very serious; and you don’t have to be serious every time.
He also explained that his stone-throwing ways where done as he used the law know to get his desired outcome. He also finished off with a warning to the Nairobi governor:
I want to ask him not to forget where he came from.
Mike Sonko had made the claim that he and Waititu used to smoke weed when they were still MP’s. He told Jeff:
He(Waititu) used to smoke a lot of bhang when he was an MP, I’m a witness to this, we used to go to a certain toilet there… we used to smoke a lot of bhang with this guy.
He added more unsettling news about the Kiambu politician, divulging:
He was hiding bhang in the socks.. he rolls so many… I’m a witness… I’m not smoking anymore. Him, he’s still smoking as the governor of Kiambu.
