This shocking video captures the moment a woman confronted her husband's alleged mistress and beat her up before throwing her off a bridge.

The footage, filmed on a mobile phone in Brazil, shows the scorned wife viciously punching her love rival on the back of the head before dragging her along the pavement by her hair.

The alleged mistress wails and pleads with the outraged woman as she is pulled out on to the road and tossed over the bridge into a shallow pool of water.

The one-minute clip, which has been posted on LiveLeak, starts with the women already locked in a tussle outside what appears to be an apartment building.

The wife is seen punching the alleged mistress on the back of her head as she holds on to a chunk of her long blonde hair.

The love rival, who is wearing a black halterneck dress, clings on to the bars of a gate outside the building as she tries to break free.

On the other side of the gate are a man and a woman who look on in shock as the wild fight unfolds.

After struggling outside the building the wife, who is taller than her petite opponent, tugs hard on the woman's hair and violently shakes her head backwards and forwards.

With a strong tug, the wife pulls the woman on to the pavement and starts to drag her by her hair.

The alleged mistress wails and begs in Portuguese as the camera follows the pair along the road.

When the wife pulls her rival off the pavement and on to the road, the woman starts to scramble on her hands and knees as she struggles to stand up.

The filming appears to momentarily stop and when it starts again, there is a third woman - apparently a friend of the wife.

Together, the wife and her friend, who are now standing at the edge of the bridge, lift the woman off the ground and throw her over into a shallow pool of water below.

The clip ends with the mistress lifting her head up out of the water, soaking wet but apparently unharmed.
