His son is quoted as saying:

At the beginning of June 2018, we took him to Mama Lucy Hospital, where doctors suggested that he could be suffering from tuberculosis and anemia and immediately referred us to Mbagathi Hospital, citing lack of equipment.

The late comedians son added:

There were occasions when he suffered memory loss, something that got us concerned.

The actor was was taken to stay at a relatives home in Doonholm estate but had to be taken taken back to Mama Lucy Hospital after complications arose.

While there they referred him back to Mbagathi Hospital. While at the facility, Masaku suffered breathing complications and was placed under an oxygen mask but with time his condition deteriorated.

Even though this film great has died, we can still celebrfate the greatness that he left for us on screen as Masaku.
