Vanessa Mdee and Juma Jux have had a romance that has lasted long for celebs. Many thought that it was a dalliance that would finish as soon as it started.
But their “love” has lasted from 2016 and they decided to show how strong their love. The two have been on their Love and Money tour where they are enthralling fans.
How would they do this? Dah? By kissing on stage in-front of many adoring fans.
There is no other way to show this type of “love” unless you can hire the Louvre like Jay Z and Beyonce.
But their act, which would be celebrated in more progressive countries has been frowned upon by the Tanzanian authorities. This after Tanzanian president John Magufuli made it a core tenet of his presidency by trying to uphold the moral and cultural fiber of the society.
The Tanzania Communications Regulatory Authority (TCRA) are now dealing with the two superstars. According to the commission’s Chief Executive Godfrey Mngereza, the couple acted in an indecent manner since they engaged in acts that should only take place in the comforts of a bedroom.
What qualifies as decency is interpreted differently to different people. The question is subjective. In the west this is a non-issue with various celebs locking lips in public in front of their fans while performing.
The reaction they get is very different with the authorities silent. Why? Different cultures? You are allowed to kiss in public in church but you can’t do so in a secular concert. Go figure?
