Stephene Sangira, a former journalist with The Star, lost his loving daughter Nicole Kinya, on November 9th, last year.

He (and his entire family, relatives and friends) were left in devastated by the untimely passing of their daughter.

It's exactly two months today after Nikki (as she was fondly referred to by the family) went to be with the Lord.

However, Sangira and his family continue to gather strength in doing things that would keep Nicole's memory etched on their minds forever.

According to him, his family gave out a promise during the trying moments of yesteryear, the family would offer full scholarships to five bright girls to Nikki's remembrance.

Today, the scribe announced the fulfilment of that promise.

He said:

"As a fulfilment of a promise my family gave during the loss of our daughter Nikki last year, last Friday, the Nicole Sangira Memorial Fund gave full scholarships that cover 4 years of schools fees to 5 bright, but needy girls from Suba who scored above 300 marks in last years KCPE. The girls have reported to school this morning and through the support of many friends here, we will make the initiative annual. When you educate a girl child, you educate a whole village."
