Whoever said money is good and can buy you happiness, did not go wrong.
Award winning Kenyan singer Linet Munyali Muraya popularly known as Size 8 is living proof that indeed money is everything.
The mother of one, who got saved a few years ago and switched from secular to gospel music, is living large thanks to the goodness of the Lord. He has been faithful to her. From earning Sh6,000 to collecting millions every end month, Size 8’s story from grass to grace is something to write home about.
The Afadhali Yesu hit singer was among the clique of female musicians who made the secular industry what it is today. Back then, Size 8 who was famed for hits such Shamba Boy, Moto, Silali and Vidonge was earning very little and she recently confessed that in an interview with Kiss 100.
“I STARTED SMALL. I USED TO TREK TO AND FROM CALIF RECORDS. I USED TO CLEAN, WASH DISHES AND COOK TEA FOR CLEMMO AMONG OTHER ARTISTES. I WAS PAID 6K. I WAS DREAMING AT THAT TIME. THIS WAS THE TIME MY SONG SHAMBA BOY WAS DOMINATING THE LOCAL AIRWAVES. BUT I BELIEVED IN GOD.”
Unlike many who resorted to alcoholism and other things, Size 8 persevered knowing that one day, her hard work could pay off.
“I DECIDED TO STICK TO THAT THAN ENGAGING IN PROSTITUTION FOR QUICK CASH. WOMEN DON’T GO FOR THE SHORTER ROUTES TO MAKE MONEY. HUSTLE AND ONE DAY YOU WILL BE PROUD OF YOURSELF. YOUR ‘P” IS MORE PRECIOUS THAN THAT SH100 YOU WILL GET OUT OF PROSTITUTION. I WOULD ADVISE YOU TO START SMALL DON’T FEEL LIKE YOU ARE LESS THAN ANYONE ELSE JUST KEEP AT IT.”
Well, a video of Size 8 at Kiss TV studios back in the day when she was broke and ashy has surfaced and shocked many. She was slim and didn’t look anything compared to the ‘new’ Size 8 we’ve come to know and love.
