A 31-year-old man is recuperating at the Nairobi Women’s Hospital in Nakuru after his private parts were chopped off by a lover.

“My sister called me at around 4pm yesterday and informed me that my son had been attacked with a knife and his private parts had been chopped off. I headed to the hospital where he had been rushed to after the incidence,” the victim's mother said.

“My son is not married and lives with his grandmother at Free Area estate since I am away working,” she said.

“The neighbours told me my son came out of the house screaming for help, saying his private parts had been chopped off with a knife.”

The mother said she was shocked as her son is known to be a calm man.

“Although I am aware that he takes alcohol, I know him to be a calm man who does not engage in fights,” she said.

Angela Gwaro of the Gender Recovery Centre in Nakuru said the man was brought in on Monday evening bleeding profusely, and was taken straight to the theatre for surgery.

Gwaro said his condition is stable and is responding well but he will be in the hospital for some time as the doctors monitor the progress.

The lover is said to have escaped after the Monday night incident.

The media was not allowed to interview the man since he was said to be under medications and needed bed rest.
