Eldoret is reeling from the brutal murder of two people. Among them is a budding athlete whose life has been snuffed way too soon.

A budding athlete, Richard Tirop is among two people who have been found killed by gangsters at Kipkorgot market near Eldoret town.

The badly mutilated bodies of the victims were found along the road at the market located on the Eldoret-Kaptagat road. The other victim was Tirop's pal, Martin Kimutai.

One of the victims had clothing stuffed in his mouth and they both had multiple injuries all over the bodies suspected to have been inflicted using blunt objects.

Uasin Gishu Deputy Governor Daniel Chemno and top security officers in the county were at the scene to help coordinate investigations.

"They appear to have been tortured badly before being killed", said a resident of the area Patrick Too.

He said they discovered the bodies in the morning and it appeared the victims may have been killed elsewhere and the bodies dumped in the area.

"This is terrible and unacceptable. We have asked police to move quickly and probe this killing which scares everyone", said Chemno.

He said the killers will be brought to book.
