Kenyans are shaken to the core over the gory details of the cold-blooded murder involving 4 family members and their gardener in Kiambu.

The patriarch of the home, Nicholas Warunge was stabbed over 30 times after he tried to flee from his well-secured home. Detectives said that he jumped from the balcony of the master bedroom when he heard his family being slaughtered in the kitchen and living room.

His wife, son, nephew and farmhand were also murdered in cold blood at their family home.

Detectives are trying to understand whether the killings could have been led by a land transaction gone wrong.

Four years ago, Warunge's brother Allan Njiire was shot and injured by unknown assailants. Following the incident, Njiire now walks with a limp.

In 2017, another brother of the deceased, Kenneth Mwangi, was hit with a blunt object by unknown people and died instantly.

However, little is known about two daughters and son of Nicholas Warunge and wife, Anne Njenga.

The Star reports that they escaped the slaughter which happened a day after they had reported back to school.

Earlier, he and his wife, a nurse at Wangige Level 4 Hospital had taken their daughter Grace Karagi to Ngiriambu Girls in Kirinyaga county and her sister Joyce Njeri to St Angela Secondary School in Karura. Their eldest son had left for Mount Kenya University.

The whereabouts of Warunge’s eldest son, Lawrence Warunge, a university student, is yet to be established as sources privy to the investigations revealed to Citizen TV that his phone was tracked to Naivasha before going off.

Post mortem examinations on the bodies of the five are expected to be conducted on Monday.

No suspect has been arrested yet in connection to the murders.
