We have heard women narrating horrifying tales of when they went to deliver their bundles of joy. Nurses are supposed to be understanding but most are not.
The most notorious maternity experiences are from Pumwani, Mama Lucy, Kenyatta National Hospital among others.
Some women shared the rude responses nurses gave them and the responses are hilarious.
‘Pale pa kushonwa niliambiwa to “eeh kaa vizuri mama tukushone uende uharibu tena.
(When stitching me they told me to position properly so that they could sew me up and give me a chance to go and spoil (nunu) again.’)
Another woman added,
‘Mimi Nurse alisema ni inue matako juu ati nikitafuta mtoto nilikua nimeinua juu kama lightning arrestor.’
Another woman narrated how a nurse blasted her for screaming yet she was not screaming during pekejeng.
“Nurse alinipima centimeters ajue ni ngapi, ali ingiza kidole nikapiga nduru, akaniambia “mama unapiga nduru na umezoea vidole plus ata si kubwa kama kitu ilikupea mimba.”
One woman narrated how the nurse was rude even making her lack the strength to push.
‘Nilipiga nduru nika lia, nikacheka, nika hara na huyu nurse kitu tuu akaona ni aniambie ‘ulidhani mtoto ataonja kama kitu ya babake” hii ilinimaliza nguvu zaidi.’
Just when you think you have heard enough another woman shared,
“Mimi niliambiwa hivi “uko sure hii maji ime break yenyewe ama ni mzee ali toboa” nilinyamaza kwa ward nikazaa na silent mode.”
