During his career thus far, Kaka Sungura has managed to drop hit by hit incessantly, but still delivering high-quality tracks. The Eastlands-bred MC is proving to be the greatest musical mentor in Kenya. This can be seen from the fact that after Wangechi had a cameo on his hit song “Ligi Soo Remix,” she went on to be featured on CNN Inside Africa and has released songs that get airplay on continental TV networks; like Trace TV and MTV Base.
Wangechi has gone on to collaborate with NeYo on Coke Studio Africa Season 3. Talking of NeYo, I spent my night at Ignition Nairobi. He was there with Tanzanian singer Diamond Platnumz. It was a hell of a party.
Anyway, let me continue telling you this great tale.
Kaka Sungura then went on and mentored Phy Ng’etich, a rapidly growing Kenyan singer with the most beautiful voice I’ve ever heard. She won the Airtel-Trace Music Stars Contest and walked away with 1.2 million shillings!
Other artistes he has been mentoring include Femi One. The rapper is also creating really good content. From my interview with her recently, she reckons with the fact that she has truly evolved.
She recently released a song with fellow singer Nessa. The video is out and although the concept is minimalistic, I love the quality and theme. It is a women empowerment anthem, basically what the country needs right now.
I would like you to check out the music video and tell me what you think in the comments. Is it a hit or miss?
